WAVE is not only economical with energy, but it also has a long term effect due to the in-depth effect on the plant. Therefore weed control using the WAVE method will cost less effort in the longer run and will stabilize at a high level of quality. WAVE does more than control weeds, it actually fights them.
- Chemicals
Chemicals
In the Netherlands chemicals can only be used on hard surfaces according to the DOB method. This means that the use of chemicals is only permitted under strict conditions twice a year at the most. The visual quality of this method is not satisfactory because there are weeds which are resistent to Roundup ( such as dandelion, plantain, mosses). Two curative treatments with Roundup give (seed) weeds the chance to grow during the intervening periods. The choice to use chemicals is often a price-related choice. The WAVE method, however, is capable of providing a better visual quality on reasonable budgets throughout the year.
more- Energy consumption
Energy consumption per m²
In order to come to a reliable comparison of the energy consumption, Joule per m² per year is the most suitable measurement. The WAVE uses 100 to 120 litres of fuel a day. However, the WAVE has the lowest energy consumption per m² in relation to the large surfaces that can be treated per day in combination with the limited number of treatments per year, a maximum of 4 (see study P. Kristoffersen). We compensate the CO2 emission which we cause despite our relatively low energy consumption per m² via Trees for Travel. Accordingly, WAVE is the only method which is CO2 neutral.
- Water consumption
Water consumption
The WAVE machine is capable of filtering the surface water and thus makes it suitable for use in the technically advanced dosage system. As a result of that the use of drinking water with its limited resources is unnecessary and no logistically drastic measures need to be taken. The use of surface water which is not polluted after being used and can be fully recycled into nature means sustainablility.
